Minister Fifor, at the NATO Defence Ministerial

Minister of National Defence, Mihai Fifor, participates in the Reunion of the NATO defence ministers, which takes place at Brussels, over 3-4 October.

The activity taking place in the capital city of Belgium is a first opportunity to evaluate the results of the July NATO Summit and to demonstrate the commitment of the allies with regard to the implementation of the decision adopted during the reunion.

The first day of the reunion, the defence ministers will analyze the progresses made by Georgia in implementing the Substantial NATO-Georgia Package (SNGP) and will approach the equitable burden sharing within NATO, in the context of the recent Summit conclusions.

The second day of the ministerial will be dedicated to the evaluation of the implementation status of NATO's deterrence and defence posture. At the same time, the allies will tackle, together with the European Union, Finnish and Swedish officials, common interest topics such as military mobility as well as counteracting hybrid and cybernetic threats. The reunion will end with a working session of the Nuclear Planning Group (NPG).

As part of the reunion, the defence minister will have bilateral meetings with his Canadian, British, Italian, Spanish and Turkish counterparts as well as with General Curtis M. Scaparrotti, The Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR).
