On Tuesday, October 23rd, at the MoND Headquarters, Defence Minister Mihai Fifor met with the representatives of the American Chamber of Commerce to the European Union.

During the talks, the officials approached topics related to the challenges and threats posed to the regional security. In this context, minister Fifor emphasized the need to consolidate the trans-Atlantic relation.

Considering Romania's taking over the Presidency of the European Union Council starting with January 2019, the talks focused on our country's priorities in the field of defence and on the main aspects related to the challenges posed to the European Union throughout the six months, especially from the BREXIT perspective.

In this context, minister Mihai Fifor pointed out the fact that the strengthening of the trans-Atlantic relation is one of the priorities Romania will promote while holding the Presidency of the EU Council. Also, the defence minister mentioned that the consolidation of the EU-NATO relation is of utmost importance in this respect, taking into consideration the essential role of the trans-Atlantic relation in providing for the European security and stability.
