General Nicolae Ciuca at Exercise TRIDENT JUNCTURE 18 DV- Day

On Tuesday, October 30th, the chief of Defence Staff, General Nicolae Ciuca, participates in the DV-Day of NATO TRIDENT JUNCTURE 18 Exercise, in Trodheim, Norway.

The exercise is conducted through October 25th-November 23rd 2018, in Norway and Iceland, with the participation of 45,000 troops, 150 aircraft, 65 ships and 10,000 vehicles from over 30 allied and partner states.

Exercise TRIDENT JUNCTURE 18 has two main components: a Live Field Exercise (LIVEX) and a computer-assisted command-post exercise (CAX/CPX), which consist in the execution of offensive and defensive operations, the training of the command and control element, as well as the checking and validation of the NATO standard operation procedures (SOPs).

The exercise, the most important NATO-led exercise this year, is planned by the Allied Command Transformation (SACT) and will be conducted by the Joint Force Command Naples, aiming at training and evaluating the NATO Response Force, according to a collective defence scenario, fighting a modern hybrid threat.

22 soldiers from the Romanian Armed forces specialized structures (Land forces Staff, Naval Forces Staff and the Psychological Operations Center), who participate in the exercise will practice the NATO Crises Management Process (NCMP), in accordance with Article 5 provisions: high intensity joint operations.
