The Reunion of the Romanian-American Executive Committee

The Reunion of the Romanian-American Executive Committee for the implementation of the Agreement between Romania and the United States of America on the activities conducted by the US forces stationed on Romanian territory (DCA), signed at Bucharest on December 6th 2005 and of the Agreement took place between Romania and the Unites State of America on the emplacement of the BMDA system in Romania , signed on September 13 2011, at Washington took place on 15 and 16 November, at the Palace of the National Military Club.

The reunion was opened by the Deputy Chief of the Department for Defence Policy, Planning and International relations, Brigadier General Vasile Bucur, who reiterated the importance of the military dimension of the strategic partnership between the two states, by mentioning two consistent elements: the presence of the US forces stationed in Romania the emplacement of the ballistic missile defence shield from Deveselu.

The Romanian delegation was headed by Colonel Alin Moiceanu, chief of Section for the Liaison with the Foreign Armed Forces and was made up of experts and invitees from the Ministry of National Defence, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Public Finances and the National Agency of Fiscal Administration.

The US Delegation was headed by Colonel Anthony Sebo, chief of North-Eastern Europe Division, Strategies and Plans Directorate of the U.S. European Command and consisted of of experts and invitees from the USEUCOM, USAREUR, USAFE, NAVEUR, MARFOREUR) as well as representatives of the US Embassy to Bucharest.

Throughout the reunion, the Romanian and American officials reviewed the subjects tackled in the November 2017 reunion, and approached topics referring to the bilateral and multinational exercises scheduled to be conducted over the next two years, the infrastructures projects developed by the US partner within the facilities and areas assigned in accordance with the provisions of the DCA, the expanding plans of the Mihail Kogalniceanu and Campia Turzii Air Bases, the support and contribution of the Romanian part to the implementation of the projects and bases expansion as well as topics of common interest on the implementation process of the DCA, BMDA and their subsequent implementation arrangements.

In order to promote the Great Union Centennial, the US Delegation Members received a short historical documentary with regard to the political, economic and social significance of the Great Union act and an issue of the Romanian Defence Magazine published on the occasion of this event.
