Topics of major interest such as the implementation of the decisions adopted at the July 2018 NATO Summit and the October 2018 Defence Ministerial will be debated during the first defence ministerial of this year.

The event is structured on five formal reunions, with focus on the status of the implementation of the strengthened deterrence and defence posture as well as on the aspects related to restating the Allied unity and solidarity by means of a substantial contribution to the burden sharing, participation in the Allied missions and operations as well as NATO-UE cooperation. Also, the Allied defence ministers will approach the main topic of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF).

As part of the reunion, the Romanian official will have a series of bilateral meetings with his counterparts from the NATO member states Great Britain, Canada and partner states - Georgia and Ukraine.
