State Secretary Nasta, at the FAC Reunion and the working sessions of EDA's Steering Committee

State Secretary for Defence Policy, Planning and International Relations, Nicolae Nasta, together with the defence and foreign affairs ministers of EU state members, will participate over 13-14 May in the Foreign Affairs Council and the working sessions of EDA's Steering Committee in the format of the defence ministers from the EU member states, which will take place in Brussels.

As part of the Reunion, the foreign affairs and defence ministers from the EU member states will meet their counterparts from the G5 Sahel Group members and officials of this organization, when they will approach topics related to the security situation in the region.

The main cooperation aspects between the European Union and NATO, especially the counteracting of the hybrid-type threats and the status of the joint actions of the two organizations conducted in accordance with the EU-NATO Joint Declaration adopted in July 2018 will be tackled during the two days of discussions.

Another topic of the reunion will be the Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO), when the defence ministers are to adopt the Recommendation of the Council on the evaluation of the progresses in the accomplishment of the PESCO commitments.

The implementation of the defence initiatives and aspects related to the general budget for year 2019 and 2020 will be discussed during the working sessions of the EDA Steering Committee.

On Tuesday, 14 May, the defence ministers will sign, as part of the FAC Reunion, the Agreement for EDA Programme Optimising Cross Border Movement Permission in Europe.
