First edition of Romania-Egypt Defense Forum, at Bucharest

State Secretary for Defence Policy, Planning and International Relations, Simona Cojocaru, and the Deputy Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Daniel Petrescu, participated in the opening of the first edition of Romania-Egypt Defense Forum, which took place at the National Military Club from Bucharest, on Tuesday, 26 November 2019.

At the opening of the event, State Secretary Cojocaru reviewed the status of the Romanian-Egyptian bilateral military cooperation and approached the development perspectives of this relation, the defence component being a major importance pillar in the cooperation with the partners.

Also, in her allocution, the Romanian official emphasized the progresses made by the partner state in managing the security situation in the region as well as in the cooperation process with the North-Atlantic Alliance and the European Union.

In his message, Lieutenant General Petrescu emphasized the importance of the development of a set of specific military capabilities, in addition to the assigned conventional forces, which is designed to face the modern challenges, including the emerging technologies.

The Romanian-Egyptian Defence Forum is a common initiative of the Defence, Public Order and National Security Board (Chamber of Deputies) dedicated to the cooperation in the field of defence and security. The forum is made up of members from the Ministry of National Defence, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Defence Industry.
