Defence Minister, at the Meeting of NATO Defence Ministers from Brussels

The Minister of National Defence, Nicolae-Ionel Ciuca, will participate in the Meeting of NATO Defence Ministers, which is organized at the North-Atlantic Alliance Headquarters from Brussels, over 12-13 February.

The debates of the first reunion of the Meeting of NATO Defence Ministers will focus on the decisions adopted at the 2019 London Reunion, especially on the modernization and adaptation of the Alliance to the ever complex challenges posed by the regional and international security environment.

The event consists of four working sessions, the main topics being the Allied operations and missions, with focus on the NATO Iraqi Mission, consolidation of NATO-EU cooperation with a view of ensuring European and Trans-Atlantic security, the implementation of the decisions in the field of defence and deterrence posture and reconfirmation of Allied unity and solidarity, through a substantial contribution to the equitable sharing of responsibilities, as well as the future of Resolute Support Mission (RSM) from Afghanistan.

As part of the Reunion, the defence minister will have bilateral talks with his counterparts from the Allied countries.
