Defence Minister with his Dutch counterpart, at the Munich Conference

The meeting of the defence minister Nicolae-Ionel Ciuca with the defence minister of the Benelux Powers, Ank Bijleveld, conducted on Friday, 14 February, as part of the Munich Security Conference, was a good opportunity to enhance the political-military dialogue on common interest topics, the dignitaries approaching various aspects of bilateral defence cooperation within NATO and EU formats, with regard to the multinational projects.

During the talks, minister Nicolae Ciuca emphasized the strategic importance of the Black Sea for the regional and European security. In this context, he thanked his counterpart for his country's contribution in the implementation of the measures taken to consolidate the Alliance Eastern flank through the participation of the Benelux Powers' Royal Navy Ships and the Land Force soldiers in the multinational exercises organized by Romania.

At the same time, the two ministers expressed their interest for the increase of the strategic political-military dialogue and the practical cooperation at the level of the two armed forces.
