Visit of the Chief of the Naval Forces of the Republic of Turkey, to Bucharest

On Tuesday, 10 March, at the MoND Headquarters, Defence Minister Nicolae-Ionel Ciuca met with Admiral Adnan Ozbal, Chief of the Naval Forces of the Republic of Turkey, , who is on official visit to Romania , over 9-11 March.

The talks focused on the evolution of the Romanian-Turkish cooperation in the field of defence both on regional context and within the North-Atlantic Alliance.

The Black Sea security was also an important topic analyzed during the talks, the officials focusing on the importance of taking the most efficient measures for ensuring the stability of this region. This objective can be supported by consolidating military cooperation between Romania and Turkey.

The cohesion of the states neighboring the Black Sea is essential and it is necessary that all countries in the area collaborate in order to help NATO in its endeavor to ensure security in the region, minister Ciuca stated.

Chief of the Turkish Naval Forces was also received by the Chief of Romanian Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Daniel Petrescu. The two officials highlighted the fact that the good bilateral military relations are emphasized also within the SNMCMG 2, whose command was taken over by the Romanian Naval Forces in January 2020, for a six-month period, as well as during the multinational and NATO exercises. Also, the collaboration in the hydrographic field and naval military educational system was also appreciated.
