The Ministry of National Defence started the preparations for the installation of the ROL 2 Hospital within the headquarters in Ana Aslan National Institute for Gerontology.

The first operations that will be executed on the spot will be the preparation of the terrain for the installation of the containers and necessary equipment. Afterwards, the ministry will conduct activities adjacent to the installation of all components of the medical structure and connection to utilities. ROL 2 Hospital will consist of medical tents and containers which include, among others, triage units, laboratory, radiology, sterilization, decontamination area; the structure is to be operational, from the administrative perspective, in almost 5 days since the beginning of the installation works; also, the hospital will be operational, from the medical point of view, after having gone through the authorization and accreditation stages. The medical formation will function as a medical entity adapted to the infectious pathology for the treatment of the easy and medium cases of COVID-19 infestation.

The MoND activity is supported by the Medical Directorate, Carol Davila Military Emergency Hospital, Land Forces Staff, Air Force Staff, the Joint Logistic Command and the Communications and Information Technology Command.

The ROL 2 Hospital of the MoND has previously functioned as an external section of infectious diseases to combat Ebola virus and as component of NATO Saber Guardian 19 and Vigorous Warrior 19Exercises the biggest medical exercise organized up to present by the North-Atlantic Alliance, which took place last year in Romania.

The Ministry of National Defence continues to support the central and local authorities in actions meant to limit the spread of COVID-19 virus, according to the cooperation plans.

Also, the MoND has prepared forces and means to intervene, at any time, but it also has personnel and equipment preserved in the actional reserve.
