ROL2 Hospital will be rendered operational shortly and two military aircraft will airlift medical equipment from Turkey and Germany

Ministry of National Defence forces and means act, together with the institutions with responsibilities in the field, in order to limit the spread of COVID 19 infestation.

At this time, the MoND is currently conducting 15 missions, with the help of more than 140 military personnel and almost 100 technical means, among which the rendering operational (from the administrative perspective) of the ROL 2 Hospital hosted within the premises of the Ana Aslan National Institute for Gerontology and Geriatrics, Otopeni, enabling a computer network for the Ministry of Health and conducting an epidemiologic triage action.

The interior arrangement of the tents and specialty wards of the ROL 2 Hospital will be finalized today, 23rd March, being scheduled to be connected to utilities in the shortest time possible. From the medical perspective, the ROL 2 Hospital will be functional after the installation of the medical devices and after having gone through the authorization and accreditation stages. At the same time, the military medical institutions located in the garrisons throughout the country will function at full capacity.

Also, today, two Air Force aircraft will conduct flights for bringing into Romania certain medical protection equipment from Germany (with a C-130 Hercules Aircraft) and Turkey (with a C-27 J Spartan Aircraft).

The MoND will make available to journalists images from the arrival of the military aircrafts.
Once the ROL 2 Hospital is fully operational, the MoND will also make available to journalists images in this respect.

The Ministry of National Defence has forces and means ready to intervene, at any time, in support of the central and local authorities in order to limit the spread of COVID-19 infestation, according to the cooperation plans. When necessary, the MoND can act with additional forces and means already ready to act, the ministry having personnel and technical equipment maintained in its actional reserve.
