Medical equipment airlifted from Germany

Almost 45 tons of medical equipment consisting in 100,000 protection overall suits will be airlifted into the country, over 13-17 April, with Romanian Air Force aircraft, that will conduct daily flights on route Bucharest Frankfurt and return.

The equipment was by the Romanian state from South Korea, through the National Office of Centralized Acquisitions and General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, as part of the efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemics and the flights were requested by the Department for Emergency Situations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The distribution of the protection equipment will be done with transportation means operated by the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, and allocated, according to the requirements, to the medical personnel throughout the country and the operative crews who act in the field, by means of the county inspectorates for emergency situations.

MoND will make available to journalists pictures taken at the arrival of the aircraft.

The Ministry of National Defence has got troops and means designated to support the central and local authorities in actions conducted to limit the spread of COVID-19 virus, according to the cooperation plans. If necessary, the MoND can act with additional forces and means, having personnel and equipment maintained in its actional reserve.
