Defence Minister Nicolae-Ionel Ciuca met on Tuesday, 21st July, at the MoND Headquarters, with Dennis Goge, the new Vice President for Central and East Europe of the Lockheed Martin Company.

During the talks, the officials approached subjects referring to the status of the implementation of the on-going procurements programs run with this company as well as those programs that are currently in the operating and support stages such as the F-16 Multirole Aircraft, surface-to-air PATRIOT systems, the High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), and the long-range or short and medium range search/heights surveillance radars.

Minister Ciuca emphasized the importance of the cooperation between Lockheed Martin Company and the operators from the Romanian defence industry in order to provide for the security of the supplying process and the technology transfer from the domestic defence industry and the manufacturing of the military equipment in our country. Also, he emphasized the potential Romania has got in key areas for the development of the new military equipment such as information technology and expressed Romania's availability in supporting joint research & development programs in the field of high-performance military technologies.
