On Wednesday, 26th August, Minister of National Defence, Nicolae-Ionel Ciuca, had a bilateral meeting with his counterpart from the Federal Republic of Germany, Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer, as part of the Informal Meeting of the EU Defence Ministers conducted at Berlin.

The topics tackled during the talks were the increase of bilateral defence cooperation within NATO, EU and United Nations Organization.

In this context, minister Ciuca expressed our country's availability in supporting the German Presidency of the European Union Council and emphasized the importance Romania gives to the increase of cooperation between NATO and EU. Also, the official highlighted the ways of cooperation offered by the EU's mechanisms and instruments.

The two officials pointed out a series of elements regarding NATO's defence and deterrence posture as well as the security situation from the Mediterranean Sea and Black Sea Region.

At the end of the talks, the two ministers agreed upon the need to enhance defence bilateral cooperation.
