Participation of MoND leadership in the Black Sea and Balkans Security Forum 2020

The MoND leadership will participate in the fourth edition of the Black Sea and Balkans Security Forum, organized by New Strategy Center, at University of Agronomic Science and Veterinary Medicine, Bucharest, over 4-5 September.

Defence Minister Nicolae-Ionel Ciuca was invited to participate on Friday, 4th September, in the panel with the topic Why does the Black Sea matter? What can we do to have a more secure region?, together with the Ukrainian defence minister Andriy Taran and former SACEUR, General (r) Philip M. Breedlove.

Also, today, the chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Daniel Petrescu, will participate, alongside the Supreme Allied Commander Europe, General Tod D. Wolters, in the session entitled Emerging challenges posed to the NATO's Eastern Flank: Anticipating the unpredictable.

Also, the chief of air Force Staff, Major General Viorel Pana, will take part in the session on the topic Space: cooperation, rivalry or confrontation? How can we avoid a stellar war?.

On Saturday, September 5th, the State Secretary for Defence Policy, Planning, and International Relations, Simona Cojocaru, will participate in the panel ‘EU's defence industry and PESCO projects in the crisis period. Opportunities for Eastern Europe.

Black Sea and Balkans Security Forum is a regional security forum which brings to Romania widely experienced invitees in order to debate on the classical and emerging security challenges posed to the Black Sea and Balkans regions.

Romanian and foreign NATO and EU high officials, representatives of institutions with responsibilities in the field of foreign affairs and national security, together with academic invitees, from the country and abroad, will debate on topics of common interest for Romania and neighboring areas' security.

The event is organized by New Strategy Center in partnership with the University of Agronomic Science and Veterinary Medicine from Bucharest, with the institutional support of the Ministry of National Defence and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
