Official talks of the Romanian and Ukrainian defence ministers, at the MoND headquarters
Defence Minister Nicolae-Ionel Ciucă had a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart, Andrii Taran, at the MoND headquarters, on Saturday, 5th September.
The bilateral talks included topics of common interest and mainly tackled recent developments of the regional security situation. Also, subjects referring to the status and perspectives of the cooperation relations between Romania and Ukraine in the field of defence were approached.
Minister Ciucă ensured the Ukrainian part of Romania’s support in enhancing cooperation within NATO - Ukraine Partnership and in the military education field.
The two officials decided to continue the political-military dialogue and identify new common projects with a view of consolidating defence cooperation relations both at bilateral plan and within regional formats and international organizations.
In the context of the joint training, the two officials reviewed the conclusions of the Exercise Sea Breeze 20 conducted in July and talked about Exercise “Blonde Avalanche”, which is scheduled to take place over 6 -11 September, in the training facilities of 10th Engineer Brigade “Dunărea de Jos” from Brăila. In this context, defence minister accepted the invitation of the Ukrainian counterpart made to the Romanian soldiers to participate in exercises scheduled to take place this autumn, in the neighboring country.
At the end of the meeting minister Ciucă and minister Taran signed a governmental agreement in the technical-military cooperation field. The agreement will contribute to the enhancement of the bilateral cooperation by creating the necessary legislative framework so that the institutions and economic agents of the two countries can develop joint projects in the field of armament and equipment acquisition, repair and modernization, research & development in the technical-military field and exchange of experience in standardization, codification and control of military technical quality.
