On Saturday, November 7th, Minister of National Defence, NicolaeIonel Ciuca, will meet his counterpart from the Portuguese Republic, João Titterington Gomes Cravinho, who is an official visit to Romania.

During the visit, the two officials will go to 86th Air Base Locotenent Aviator Gheorghe Mociornita from Fetesti, where they will attend flight rehearsals of the F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft.

The visit agenda of the Portuguese delegation also consists in official talks at the MoND Headquarters, where the two defence ministers will approach topics referring to the status of the defence bilateral cooperation, with focus on the on-going acquisition contract of the F-16 aicraft from the Portuguese part, cooperation within NATO and EU in the current security context, with focus on the Allied defence and deterrence posture and the cooperation within the EU PESCO projects.

The two officials will make press statements after the talks.

The journalists willing to attend the press statements from the MoND will be expected on Saturday, November 7th, between 13.15 and 13.30, at the PC 3 entrance next to the Marriott Hotel, with their personal identification papers and press badge as well as sanitary protection material.

All measures will be taken to prevent the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

The press statements will be broadcasted live on the MoND Facebook page. Imagery from the visit to the 86th Air Base will be made available to the mass-media representative through the MoND Press Office the same day.
