Defence Minister Nicolae-Ionel Ciuca and the chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Daniel Petrescu, will attend the Joint Romanian American Exercise RAPID FALCON, which will be conducted on Thursday, November 19th, at the 57th Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base and in the Gl.bg. Ion Bungescu Air Defence National Training Center from Capu Midia.

The activity that will be held with the participation of over 130 Romanian and US soldiers and 30 pieces of equipment, among which two HIMARS mobile artillery systems belonging to the 41st Ground Artillery Brigade deployed to Grafenwoehr , Germany, and three LAROM multiple missile launchers belonging to the 8th LAROM Brigade Alexandru Ioan Cuza from Focsani.

The activity aims at developing and consolidating military cooperation between the Romanian Land Forces and the US Army Europe, and is an opportunity to develop the partnership between the two artillery formations, from the perspective of equipping the structures of 8th LAROM Brigade Alexandru Ioan Cuza with HIMARS equipment, starting with 2021.

RAPID FALCON is a short-time notice exercise which consists in a rapid deployment in the field, firing sessions and displacement of personnel and adjacent equipment to the peace-time deployment barracks and it will take place twice, in two spots, successively, within 12.30-19.30. Thus, there will be press statements made and the equipment will start arriving at the 57th Air Base at 13.30, while the artillery shooting sessions will take place at Capu Midia Firing Range, starting 15.30.

The exercise will be organized by respecting the norms regarding the spread of the new corona-virus imposed by the authorities.
