Defence Minister, Nicolae-Ionel Ciuca, will participate in the Reunion of Foreign Affairs Council in the Defence Ministers format, respectively in the working sessions of EDA Steering Committee in the format of videoconference, on Friday, November 20th.

During the working sessions of EDA's Steering Committee, the defence ministers will approve the budget of the Agency for year 2021 and the Tri-annual Planning Framework for the 2021-2023 timeframe and will debate on the results of the first complete cycle of the Coordinated Annual Review Process of Defence (CARD), closed this year.

The debates regarding the Reunion of the Foreign Affairs Council will focus on two major current topics listed on EU's agenda in the defence field: the launching of the Strategic Compass, which is a strategic orientation paper in the field of Common Security and Defence Policy, respectively the conclusions of the review process of PESCO.

Also, as part of the reunion, there will be a videoconference held with the EU defence ministers from the European Popular Party (PPE), where the officials will exchange opinions on the relation of the EU with its strategic and trans-Atlantic partners and will continue the debates on the PPE Strategy Draft regarding the evolution of defence cooperation within EU.
