A detachment of MQ-9 Reaper unmanned aerial vehicles and almost 90 soldiers of the United States Air Force will be deployed, for the following six months, to 71st General Emanoil Ionescu' Air Base, Campia Turzii.

The American soldiers will conduct intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions in support of the NATO operations, while the Romanian Air Force, by means of 71st General Emanoil Ionescu' Air Base, will provide technical, operational and logistic support throughout the deployment period in Romania.

The presence of the US allies on our territory is an opportunity to test, increase and evaluate the combat capability, the joint training activities being a key element for the increase of interoperability between the two parties.

The collaboration between the United States of America and Romania contributes to the consolidation of the collective defence capability and the increase of regional security.
