The talks held the second day of the Meetings of NATO Ministers of Defence mainly focused on the operational effort of the Alliance. In this context, the participants approached topics related to the NATO commitments made in order to ensure security in Afghanistan and Iraq, as well as those related to the Allied projects and initiatives related to ensuring NATO's operational capability.

The talks offered the Romanian defence minister the opportunity to reiterate Romania's commitment with regard to NATO's operations and missions in 2021 and expressed his support for the approaches taken in relation with the Alliance operational commitments over the following period.

At the same time, minister Nicolae Ciuca thanked the Allies engaged in the development of the Headquarters Multinational Corps South-East (HQ MNC SE), which has recently become a NATO military organization holding International Military Headquarters status.

The Meetings of NATO Ministers of Defence was held over 17-18 February, in a video-conference format.
