The Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant-General Daniel Petrescu, will have a meeting with his Spanish counterpart, Admiral Teodoro Esteban Lopez Calderon, on Wednesday, 24th March, at the MoND Headquarters.

The Spanish official will be on official visit to Romania throughout 23rd-26th March, following the invitation of the Romanian Chief of Defence Staff.

During the talks, the two chiefs of defence staffs will assess the status of the military bilateral relations and its development perspective as part of the Strategic Partnership between Romania and Spain and will talk about the participation in exercises, consolidation of the multinational allied command and control structures and the missions conducted in the theaters of operations, within NATO and EU.

The visit agenda of the Spanish delegation includes meetings with the MoND officials, members of the Land Forces Staff, Air Force Staff and Naval Forces Staff leadership as well as with the Multinational Corps South-East Headquarters and The Multinational Division South-East Headquarters.

Admiral Teodoro Esteban Lopez Calderon will visit Mircea cel Batran Naval Academy from Constanta and will inspect the Spanish Frigate Cristobal Colon, which participates in Exercise SEA SHIELD 21 conducted by the Romanian Naval Forces.

The official agenda will include a meeting with the soldiers of the Spanish detachment deployed to the 57th Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base in order to conduct enhanced NATO Air Policing Missions.
