Romania's National Flag and NATO's one will be hoisted on Sunday, April 4th, starting 9.00, at the MoND Headquarters, on the occasion of the anniversary of NATO Day in Romania.

Also, similar activities dedicated to Romania's accession to the Organization of the North-Atlantic Treaty will be organized in county municipalities and local garrisons.

The ceremony organized at the MoND Headquarters will have a limited participation and will respect the norms regarding the limitation of the spread of SARS-CoV-2 and will be broadcasted live on the MoND Facebook page.

On March 29th 2004, Romania officially joined NATO, by depositing the ratification instruments at the United States Department of State, which is the depositary state of the North-Atlantic Treaty.
The depositing of the ratification instruments was followed by the ceremony of the official hoisting of the Romanian National Flag at the NATO Headquarters, on April 2nd 2004.

According to Law no.390 of September 28th 2004, NATO Day in Romania is celebrated each year, on the first Sunday of April. NATO Day is a public celebration dedicated to democracy, European and Euro-Atlantic spirit.
