The MoND Cybernetic Defence Command, at Exercise LOCKED SHIELDS 2021

The MoND Cybernetic Defence Command participates in the international defence cybernetic Exercise LOCKED SHIELDS 2021, with a team made up of 21 specialists, over 13th-16th April.

The exercise will be conducted online and will be planned and organized by the NATO Center of Excellence for Cybernetic Defence from Tallinn, Estonia, with the participation of professional teams made up of military and civilian personnel assigned from allied and partner states.

Our country participates for the first time in LOCKED SHIELDS Exercise, this year, with an interagency team coordinated by the Cybernetic Defence Agency subordinated the Cybernetic Defence Command. The team is made up of almost 75 specialists assigned to the MoND, the other institutions of the National Defence, Public Order and Security System, National Response Center to the Cybernetic Security Incidents , as well as private companies which activate in the field.

The main goal of the exercise is to foster the training level of the cybernetic security specialists so that, by acting in large inter-agency ad multitasking teams, they can protect in real time the national IT and critical infrastructures networks against multiple and multi-directional cybernetic attacks.

LOCKED SHIELDS 2021 is conducted according to a real scenario, by using the latest technologies and simulating massive cybernetic incidents, in the strategic, legal and public communication decision fields.

Participation in Exercise LOCKED SHIELDS 2021 is a good opportunity to foster collective training by placing the action in a provocative and demanding environment, as well as to improve interoperability, resilience and agility of the cybernetic defence, C2, judicial and PR structure of the participating states in order to give an immediate and efficient answer to any cybernetic incident.

The exercise is conducted annually, starting 2010, the only edition which has not been organized being the one from 2020.
