The meeting of the Chief of Defence Staff with the Ambassador of Canada to Romania

The chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Daniel Petrescu, met with the Ambassador of Canada to Romania, Annick Goulet, on Friday, 23rd April, at the MoND headquarters.

The agenda of the meeting aimed at the Romanian-Canadian cooperation in the field of defence.

Lieutenant General Daniel Petrescu appreciated the commitment of the Canadian soldiers in the implementation of the defence and deterrence measures on the NATO Eastern Flank, on Romanian territory, through the participation of the Canadian staff personnel in the allied C2 structures and the periodical contributions of the Canadian Armed Forces to the enhanced air policing missions. At the same time, the chief of Defence Staff thanked for the support offered by the Canadian allies to the Romanian detachment deployed to the UN Mission in Mali, which ended last year.

The two officials reiterated the importance of the trans-Atlantic relation for Europe, in the current security context from the Black Sea Region. The Canadian Armed Forces are part of NATO's forces structures which are fully engaged in the Alliance operations, over the seven decades of existence of the political-military organization.

Considering the fact that the Romanian Armed Forces celebrates the Land Forces Day, Ambassador Annick Goulet congratulated and wished good luck to the personnel assigned in this Service structures.
