Certification ceremony of the British Detachment deployed on mission to Romania

NATO Certification ceremony of the Royal British Forces Detachment, which arrived in Romania with a view of conducting enhanced Air Policing missions, will take place on Thursday, April 29th, starting 11.00, in the 57th Air Base Mihail Kogalniceanu.

The British Detachment made up of approximately 200 de soldiers (pilots and technical personnel) with four Eurofighter Typhoon Aircraft, will conduct NATO-led enhanced Air Policing missions over the following four months, together with Romanian Air Forces soldiers with F-16 Fighting Falcon and MiG-21 LanceR aircraft.

Journalists interested in attending the activity are requested to send their identification data (name, surname, ID card number and series, the media institution they represent and the phone number) as well as the transportation vehicle identification data by Wednesday, 28th April, 14.30, at proff@roaf.ro email address.

The mass-media representatives will be expected on Thursday, 29th April, between 09.45 10.15, at the 57th Air Base Mihail Kogalniceanu.

This is the third rotation of the British Royal Air Forces at Mihail Kogalniceanu after the first two conducted in 2017 and 2018.

The joint enhanced Air Policing missions contribute to the development of the reaction and deterrence capability as well as to the consolidation of the interoperability between the Romanian and British forces by demonstrating involvement and determination in the context of the challenges posed by the COVID -19 pandemics.
