Defence Minister Nicolae-Ionel Ciuca will participate on May 6th, at Brussels, in the Reunions of the Foreign Affairs Council in the EU Defence Format, the European Defence Agency and of the European Union Satellite Center (SATCEN). The reunions will be chaired by the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Defence Policy, Josep Borrell.

The main topic of the FAC reunion will be the Strategic Orientation Compass, the talks being focused on the crises management pillar. The EU defence ministers will be invited to offer guidance with regard to the ways of consolidating effectiveness and flexibility of the operational component as well as the increase of availability level of forces and capabilities for the EU missions and operations. Also, the reunion agenda includes a working lunch, attended by NATO's General Secretary, where the officials will approach the operational efforts in the common interest areas of both organizations.

During the FAC reunion, the defence ministers will participate in the Reunion of EDA's Steering Committee and will approach the implementation of the recommendations made in the 2020 Report of the Coordinated Annual Review on Defence (CARD) and the use of collaboration opportunities adjacent to the military capability development priorities, at European level.

Also, the defence ministers will also participate in the SATCEN Steering Committee Reunion, organized for the first time in ministerial format. On this occasion, a set of conclusions on the intended level of ambition desired by the member states for the development of the center capacity will be discussed.
