The meeting of State Secretary for Defence Policy, Planning and International Relations with the Ambassador of Estonia to Romania

State Secretary for Defence Policy, Planning and International Relations, Simona Cojocaru, had a meeting with the Ambassador of Estonia to Bucharest, Ingrid Kressel Vinciguerra, on Monday, 7th June, at the MoND headquarters.

During the talks, the two officials reviewed the bilateral defence cooperation relations and assessed the current security situation, focusing on NATO's future actions and projects (NATO 2030), including the cooperation with the Estonian part, by means of the joint participation in NATO exercises.

In this context, the Romanian official emphasized the strategic importance for Alliance security, the overall approach of the deterrence and defence policy on the entire Eastern flank as well as the increase of cooperation among the allies in the region. In this respect, the officials pointed out the significance and utility of the B9 format, by means of the potential identification of new projects that can be jointly developed.

The state secretary also emphasized the importance and the status of the process of rendering operational several allied multinational structures established on national territory. Also, the official saluted the added value brought by the NATO Center of Excellence for Cybernetic Defence from Tallinn.

The interlocutors also approached the status and perspectives of the EU initiatives, focusing on the Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO), European Defence Fund (EDF) and military mobility. At the same time, the officials emphasized the importance of NATO-EU cooperation, by ensuring complementarity of the projects and current initiatives.

At the end of the meeting, both parties expressed their conviction on the need to continue bilateral defence cooperation and agreed upon increasing the political-military dialogue on the common interest subjects.
