Meeting between the Romanian and Modovan Defence Ministers, at Chisinau

On Friday, 27th August, Defence Minister Nicolae-Ionel Ciuca participated together with the President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, in the Military Parade organized to mark 30 years since the declaration of the independence of the Republic of Moldova.

As part of his official visit to Chisinau, the Romanian defence minister had a meeting with his counterpart from the Republic of Moldova, Anatolie Nosatii.

During the meeting, the two officials approached defence bilateral cooperation, its current status, new common interest projects as well as the impact the current pandemics has on the accomplishment level of the bilateral activities.

Minister Nicolae-Ionel Ciuca reiterated the possibility of continuing supporting the modernization of the Moldovan armed forces' defence capabilities.

At the same time, the two ministers talked about the perspective of conducting the Romanian-Moldovan Mixed Military Committee, when the experts can approach common interest aspects. Also, the two interlocutors emphasized the importance of increasing interoperability level between the two armed forces by jointly participating in bilateral and multinational exercises.

Minister Anatolie Nosatii highlighted the fact that Romania is a trustworthy strategic partner for the Republic of Moldova, appreciating the constant assistance offered by the Romanian Government in the field of defence, especially referring to the training of the Moldovan armed forces' soldiers in the Romanian military educational institutions, the expertise offered in developing the strategic papers contained in the Defence Capacity Building Coordinator (DCBI), as well as the assistance dedicated to combating the COVID-19 pandemics.
