Defence Minister at the Security and prosperity at the Black Sea

On Thursday, 23rd September, Defence Minister Nicolae-Ionel Ciuca participated in the opening of the conference Security and prosperity at the Black Sea, event organized by the Romanian Affairs Stock Market at Radisson Blu Hotel, from Bucharest.

In his opening allocution, Minister Ciuca emphasized the importance Romania holds in the Black Sea Region as important pivot for the consolidation of security and stability in the region, together with our partners and allies. In this context, the defence minister reminded that NATO, at the June Summit from Brussels restated its decision to continue consolidating its defence and deterrence posture of its allies on the Eastern Flank, while the strategic relevance of the Black Sea was confirmed at the highest level of the Alliance.

There is no doubt that the Black Sea Region is of strategic importance both for NATO and the European Union, minister Nicolae-Ionel Ciuca stated, at the same time emphasizing that the prosperity in the Black Sea region depends on the stability and predictability of the area, the security and defence being tightly connected to the economy.

Security and prosperity at the Black Sea is the fifth international conference organized by Diplomacy 360.

Sebastian Neculaescu, State Secretary in the Foreign Affairs Ministry, David Muniz, Charge d'Affaires of the Unites States of America to Romania, diplomats and specialists in the fields connected to the long-lasting development of global prosperity also attended the opening activity of the event.
