Finalization of the construction works of the Monument of the WWI Romanian Heroes from Bolzano, Italy

The Ministry of National Defence, through the National Office for the Heroes' Cult, with the support of the Defence Ministry from the Republic of Italy , the General Commissariat for the Homage of the War Heroes, has implemented the project of the erection of the Monument of the WWI Romanian Heroes from Bolzano, Italy, Trentino-South Tirol Region.

The commemorative project initiated by the Romanian party was run according to the provisions of the Agreement signed between the Government of Romania and the Government of the Italian Republic on the war graves, signed at Bucharest, 9th July 2015 and the Technical Agreement with regard to the authorization for the free use of a terrain plot, which is property of the Italian state, for the construction of a war commemorative monument dedicated to the Romanian heroes, signed at Rome, on 21st November 2019.

Thus, on Wednesday, 6th October, at the Italian cemetery from Bolzano, the officials organized the reception to mark the ending of the construction works at the Romanian commemorative monument. The activity was attended by Colonel Gianpaolo Franchi from the General Commissariat for the Homage of the War Heroes and a Romanian MoND delegation headed by Colonel Iulian Barbu, the Romanian Defence Attache to Rome.

Testimony of the sacrifice made by the Romanian heroes who died during WWI on the territory of the Italian Republic, the war commemorative monument from Bolzano offers the necessary framework for the organization of certain events of historical relevance for the Romanian state (Romania's National Day, the Romanian Armed Forces' Day, Heroes' Day, etc).

During this activity, the representatives of the Romanian party thanked the Italian one for its availability and support offered throughout the building process period, expressing its conviction with regard to the good bilateral relation in the field of heroes' commemoration and protection of war graves and commemorative monuments emplaced on both territories.
