This is the second rotation of the Italian Air Forces executed at Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base, after the first one in 2019.

The enhanced Air Policing Missions conducted jointly contribute to the development of the reaction and deterrence capacity as well as to the consolidation of interoperability between the Romanian and Italian Air Forces.

The deployment of the Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft to Romania is part of the implementation of the Action Plan for the provision of NATO's operational capacity on the Eastern Flank of the Alliance both on its North and South parts and demonstrates NATO's solidarity and determination in response to the challenges posed to the security environment.
