The Chief of Defence Staff, at the NATO Military Committee Reunion

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Daniel Petrescu, participates in the NATO Military Committee Reunion, in videoconference format, over 12th-13th January.

The chiefs of defence from 30 states will approach topics of strategic importance for the Alliance, such as the implementation of the NATO's Warfighting Capstone Concept and the Deterrence and Defence of the Euro-Atlantic Area Concept, the evaluation of the security situation and talks about the current Allied defence and deterrence posture. At the same time, the agenda of the reunion comprises talks with the Georgian and Ukrainian chiefs of defence on the security situation and the progress of the reforms made in the military field.

NATO's Military Committee, the highest military authority of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, meets twice a year at the Alliance headquarters in Brussels and once in one of the allied countries, thus, the chiefs of defence being given the opportunity to make recommendations on the ways NATO can react to the global security challenges.

The Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), General Tod D. Wolters and the Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (SACT), General Philippe Lavigne will attend the first reunion from 2022, headed by the Chairman of the Military Committee, Admiral Rob Bauer.

The works from the second day of the Military Committee Reunion will be opened by NATO's Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg.
