Defence Minister's meeting with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Romania

Defence Minister Vasile Dincu received the visit of the Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Romania, Andrew Noble, on Tuesday, 11th January.

The two officials had an extensive talk on the current and future challenges of the security environment and ways of adapting to the current strategic realities. Minister Dincu mainly referred to the regional security challenges by reiterating his concern to the consolidation of Russia's military presence in the neighborhood of the Alliance. At the same time, he restated the Romanian party's position on the need to strengthen NATO's defence and deterrence posture in a coherent and overarching manner on the entire Eastern Flank, including at the Black Sea.

The minister of national defence appreciated the support of the British partner for the consolidation of the Allied posture in the Black Sea region by participating in Enhanced Air Policing Missions, the constant presence of the military ships in the Black Sea as well as the participatiion in military exercises or within the NATO structures established on Romanian territory.

Also, the meeting was a good opportunity to approach practical cooperation issues from the perspective of the continuation of bilateral projects that are to be conducted this year. At the same time, the exchange of opinions included other topics listed on the Allied agenda, in the perspective of the upcoming Madrid Summit from June.
