The Suhoi 27 Aircraft belonging to the Ukrainian Air Forces left the Romanian air space

Upon the request of the Ukrainian authorities, a Suhoi 27 military aircraft belonging to the Ukrainian Air Forces left the Romanian air space today, March 1st, by respecting the national and international legislation.

The Suhoi 27 aircarft, which had no ammunition onboard, was escorted by two Romanian Air Force Mig-21 LanceR Fighters to the limit of the national air space, where it was taken over by aircrafts of the Ukrainian Air Forces.

On Thursday, 24 February, two Romanian Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft conducting NATO-led enhanced Air Policing Combat Service missions took off around 6.15, in order to clarify an aerial situation referring to an authorized flight detected in the Northern part of Romania, which was approaching the national air space.

The two Romanian military aircraft strictly applied the national procedures and international regulations in force for such situations, thus, intercepting and visually identifying the aircraft which infiltrated the Romanian air space.

The respective aircraft, a 27 Suhoi belonging to the Ukrainian Air Forces was escorted for immediate landing to the 95th Air Base Bacau. The operation ended at 07.05.
