The meeting of the Chief of Defence Staff with the Deputy Commander of LANDCOM

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Daniel Petrescu, met with the Deputy Commander of the Allied Land Command (LANDCOM), Lieutenant General Nicola Zanelli, on Monday, 20 June, at the MoND.

The meeting agenda focused on the LANDCOM support offered to the allied command and control capabilities deployed on our national territory, especially to the Headquarters Multinational Corps South-East throughout its endeavor to rapidly increase its operational capability. Also, the two officials evaluated the implementation status of the measures taken to consolidate NATO defence and deterrence posture.

The Chief of Defence Staff pointed out LANDCOM's significant contribution to the reconfiguration process of the Forward Presence on the entire Eastern flank. In this context, the Romanian Armed Forces maintain coordination in order to render operational the new NATO battle group in our country, Collective Defence Battle Group.

The two officials' meeting took place as part of the documentation visits the Deputy LANDCOM Commander makes to Romania, over 19 - 22 June.

Lieutenant General Nicola Zanelli's schedule also includes visits to the allied multinational structures deployed to Bucharest and to the Headquarters Multinational Brigade South-East from Craiova.
