Minister of National Defence, Vasile Dincu, met with the Chairman of the National Assembly Defence Committee from France, Thomas Gassilloud, on Thursday, 21 July, at the MoND Headquarters.

Ways of consolidating cooperation within NATO, EU and at bilateral level, with focus on the decisions made at the Madrid NATO Summit, the relations between the two countries in the context of the strategic partnership, France's contribution to the deterrence and defence efforts made on the Eastern flank and the steps taken within the collaboration process at European level with a view of developing capabilities were the topics listed on the meeting agenda between the two officials.

During the talks, the Romanian official thanked for France's commitment, as framework nation, in ensuring the consolidation of the Collective Defense Battle Group, up to brigade level, in accordance with the security situation development, according to the announcement made by the French President, Emanuel Macron. This effort proves the firmness of the strategic partnership between the two states and the allied strength, with benefic results both for Romania's security and at regional level.

The two officials appreciated the solid dialogue in the field of security and defence as a continuation of the talks occasioned by the French high officials' visits made to Romania.
