Inter-agency meetings at the MoND Headquarters

On Wednesday, 21 September, Department for Defence Policy, Planning and International Relations organized at the MoND Headquarters, the Meeting of the Inter-agency Committee for the implementation of the Agreement between Romania and USA on the activities of the US forces deployed on Romanian territory and the Agreement between Romania and USA on the deployment of the Ballistic Missile Defence System (BMDA) as well as the meeting of Inter-agency Board for the liaison with the foreign armed forces stationed on Romanian territory.

The meetings were chaired by Simona Cojocaru, State Secretary for Defence Policy, Planning and International Relations in MoND, and attended by state secretaries and representatives of the ministries and public institutions of the Governmental Arch, with responsibilities in the implementation of the provisions of the above-mentioned norms.

At the opening of the working sessions, State Secretary Simona Cojocaru expressed her appreciation for the effort made and the support provided to the Ministry of National Defence by the other ministries of the Inter-agency Committee and the Inter-agency Committee for the settlement of the practical aspects which were identified last year, while conducting the military exercises organized in Romania, during the investments made in military infrastructure or when applying established procedures in relation with the foreign armed forces stationed in Romania.

The meeting agenda consisted in topics of general interest for the participating ministries and governmental organizations, with focus on the foreign armed forces deployed on national territory following the decisions taken at the Madrid NATO Summit and the very complicated security environment, generated by the Russian Federation's aggression war against Ukraine. Also, in this context, the officials had talks on the need to provide reciprocal inter-agency support.
