Press release No. 390 10.10.2022
Press Information

On Monday, October 10, between 8.05-9.09 a.m., the Air Forces Staff's structures, which conduct the permanent combat surveillance service of the Romanian air space, detected three aerial targets which flew over the North-Western Basin of the Black Sea towards the Ukrainian air space (Odessa and Vinita regions). The aerial targets also flew over the Republic of Moldova's air space.

The assessment of the trajectories and the flight parameters showed the fact that the aerial targets were, most likely, cruise missiles launched from naval or ground platforms from the Western part of the Crimean Peninsula.

The aerial targets in question did not constitute a danger for the Romanian territory or for the safety of the Romanian and NATO air traffic.

The surveillance/reconnaissance radars of the Romanian Air Forces are part of Romania's and NATO's national command and control system and provides for the early information and warning of the military and political leaders of Romania and the Alliance.

The MoND leadership firmly condemns the Russian Federation's aggression war led against Ukraine, by expressing its full support for the neighboring state's sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity. Today's brutal actions, which targeted intensely populated civilian areas, seriously violate all norms of the international humanitarian law and, implicitly, the United Nations Charter's ones.
