The visit to Bucharest of the Advisor of German Chancellor on Security and International Relations

On Thursday, 24 November, State Secretary for Defence Policy, Planning and International Relations, Simona Cojocaru, received a delegation from the Federal Republic of Germany headed by Jens Plotner, Advisor for Security and International Relations, accompanied by the Ambassador of Germany to Bucharest, Peer Gebauer. The meeting was attended by the State Advisor for Foreign Policy, Security and Strategic Affairs of the Romanian Prime Minister, Iulian Chifu.

The two officials approached current topics listed on the international security agenda, emphasizing the need to consolidate the Allied presence in the region in the context of the aggression war led by the Russian Federation against Ukraine.

Also, the officials discussed the main coordinates of the bilateral military cooperation and emphasized the excellent status of the collaboration between the two states.

Also, the officials pointed out the cooperation between Romania and Germany, within NATO and EU format, in the current security context, focusing on the Allied deterrence and defence posture and the efforts made to project stability as well as on defence cooperation within the European Union.

The Romanian official expressed his appreciation for Germany's commitment in the implementation of the deterrence and defence measures on the Allied Eastern flank, especially in the Black Sea region, emphasizing the participation of the German Air Forces in the enhanced Air Policing Missions (eAP) conducted in Romania.

State Secretary Cojocaru also pointed out the importance of continuing conducting joint bilateral and multinational training exercises both in Romania and Germany as well as the increase of cooperation in the fields of training, military and technical education.

At the end of the meeting, both parties agreed upon the need to maintain a constant bilateral dialogue, in support of an efficient implementation of the common projects in the field of defence both at bilateral and Allied levels.
