Minister of National Defence, Angel Tilvar, received the visit of the Ambassador of Ukraine to Romania , Ihor Prokopchuk, on Wednesday, 18 January, at the MoND Headquarters.

The current security situation and the multidimensional support provided to Ukraine by Romania were the main topics listed on the meeting agenda. In this context, the defence minister reiterated Romania's firm position with regard to providing international support to Ukraine for as long as necessary.

Minister Tilvar condemned the indiscriminative bombings of the civilian infrastructure by the Russian Federation's forces, by mentioning the tragic event from Dnipro, as of 15 January 2023, which resulted in a great number of civilian casualties.

The Romanian official reiterated the importance of maintaining a constant dialogue between the Romanian and Ukrainian defence ministries, by expressing the openness of the Romanian party to continue talks on the complex issue of security and defence from the Black Sea region.

In the context of the tragic aviation incident which occurred this morning, nearby Kiev, Minister Angel Tilvar sent his condolences to the Ukrainian Government and people for the loss of the Minster of Internal Affairs, Denys Monastyrskiy, and other people who were onboard of the helicopter as well as on the ground.
