"EAGLE MEDA 23 Live Firing Exercise

Almost 600 French troops and 200 military vehicles of the French Battle Group Romania (ROU BG - FRAN FN), with France as framework nation, alongside the French national support element, will conduct EAGLE MEDA 23 Live Firing Exercise over cu 23 - 27 January, at the Secondary Combat Training Center of the Romanian Land Forces, from Smardan, Galati County.

The main goal of the exercise is to train the Battle Group forces with a view of increasing its rapid deployment capability and conducting a combat mission in a fictitious scenario as part of an Article 5 NATO collective defense operation, conducted on the Eastern flank of the Alliance. Live firings with the Leclerc Tanks will be executed during the exercise.

The training sequence organized on Wednesday, 25 January is open to mass-media participation.

Thus, journalists interested in participating in the event are requested to send their identification data (name, surname, series and number of the identity card, the media institution they represent) by Tuesday, 24 January, 14.00, to email addresses: sphdbn.conscom@ops-vjtf.defense.gouv.fr, morgane.despiau-pujo@intradef.gouv.fr.

On Wednesday, 25 January, between 09:30 and 10:00, the access of the media representatives into the Secondary Combat Training Center of the Land Forces Smardan, Galati County, will be made based on the identity cards and press badges.

Mass-media representatives are requested to use portable devices for live broadcastings due to the fact that DSNG access is not possible.

At the same time, we inform you that the live firings can be cancelled in case the weather conditions cannot provide a safety climate for the conduct of the exercise.
