A group of Air War College students visited MoND

State Secretary for Defence Policy, Planning and International Relations, Simona Cojocaru, and Chief of Defence Staff, General Daniel Petrescu, met with a group of US Air War College students, on Tuesday, 14 March.

The Romanian officials presented perspectives of the security situation from the Black Sea region, emphasizing the effects of the Russian Federation's aggression war in Ukraine impacting on the Euro-Atlantic security. The special importance of the Strategic Partnership with the United States of America was emphasized, Romania marking, in 2023, three decades since the launching of the State Partnership Program with the National Alabama Guard as well as the cooperation in the air forces field.

Romania is a trustworthy partner today, which demonstrated ambition, political will and the ability of implementing daring projects by assuming the security provider role in the region. Cooperation between Romania and the United States of America with respect to the defence and deterrence posture on the Eastern flank as well as in other extended areas stand for a firm commitment to collective defence , State Secretary Simona Cojocaru stated.

The Chief of Defence Staff pointed out the importance of joint training conducted by the Romanian and American troops both from the perspective of military cooperation and consolidation of defence and deterrence posture of the Alliance at the Black Sea. The Romanian Armed Forces accomplish their role in the regional security architecture and are permanently committed to consolidating the national defence capacity and implementing the Allied measures, in accordance with the security challenges and needs, General Daniel Petrescu stated.

The schedule of the Air War College students to Romania also comprises meetings with representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Parliament of Romania and a visit to the 57th Air Base Mihail Kogalniceanu from Constanta County.

The Unites States' Air War College was established 77 years ago, in Maxwell Field, Alabama. The goal of the educational curricula is to train the high-ranking commissioned officers so that they can lead at strategic level, in multinational environments, being the most important college that provides the education required to manage the threats emerging from the air, spatial and cybernetic operational fields.
