State Secretary for Defense Policy, Planning and International Relations, Simona Cojocaru, had a meeting with Ambassador Sorin Ducaru, the Director of the European Union Satellite Center (SatCen) and with Louis Tillier, the Deputy Director, on Thursday, May 18, at the MoND Headquarters.

During the talks, concrete ways of continuing the cooperation between the Ministry of National Defence and the SatCen were addressed, as well as the development perspectives, including in the context of technological developments. The essential role of new technologies in supporting the center's mission to effectively address emerging security challenges was also emphasized.

Director Sorin Ducaru commended Romania's contribution to the Centre's efforts, by highlighting the participation of the Romanian experts in the activities carried out under the aegis of the SatCen.

On this occasion, the State Secretary for Defence Policy, Planning and International Relations congratulated SatCen on its 30th anniversary and pointed out the increasingly important role of its products in the European security architecture. At the same time, the official supported a more ambitious role of the satellite center, by emphasizing the fact that our country is an important beneficiary of the geospatial imagery products and services made available by the SatCen.
