Defence Minister's meeting with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Bucharest

On Wednesday, May 24th, Minister of National Defence, Angel Tilvar, met with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Bucharest, Andrew Noble, at the MoND Headquarters.

The meeting between the two officials took place as part of the regular contacts of the defence minister with the foreign diplomats accredited to Bucharest.

The meeting agenda included topics related to the security situation in the Black Sea region, in the context of Russia's aggression war in Ukraine, the cooperation within the North Atlantic Alliance in the perspective of the upcoming NATO Summit in Vilnius, current and potential future topics related to the bilateral cooperation between the two armed forces, with an emphasis on the development of the defence industry.

On this occasion, the Romanian Minister of National Defence emphasized the importance of ensuring security in the Black Sea region in the context of Russia's aggression war against Ukraine and the strategic importance of the Black Sea as a key region for European and Euro-Atlantic security. Great Britain's contribution to the consolidation of the Allied position on the Eastern flank, especially in the Black Sea region, was also appreciated, as a concrete proof of Allied solidarity and unity.


At the end of the meeting, the two officials expressed their full willingness to consultation and coordination both at bilateral level and within Allied format and pointed out the development potential of bilateral relations and the increased dynamics of dialogue and cooperation between the two states.
