Captain Carol Florea, PR officer of the 2nd Infantry Battalion Calugareni deployed in An Nassiryah, transmitted the following:

The soldiers of the 2nd Infantry Battalion Calugareni gave Thursday, February 10, 05 the day marking the beginning of the Islamic year school supplies, blackboards and two refrigerators to four high schools and elementary schools from Suq ash Shuyukh and Al-Ukaika. The supplies are valued at USD 10, 000 and have been donated by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Managers of the educational institutions and the representatives of the local population thanked the Romanian forces for the support granted for the modernization of the didactic base of the schools.

This was the Battalion's first CIMIC type (civil-military cooperation) action in its area of responsibility and the Romanian forces will participate in repairing the installation of water pipes and the water cleaning system in the above mentioned localities, in the near future.
