Minister of National Defence, Angel Tilvar, will participate in the Informal Meeting of the EU Defence Ministers, which will take place in Toledo, Spain, over 29-30 August.

The talks will start with a working session dedicated to EU's contribution to the security commitments to Ukraine. Later, the defence ministers will assess the regional and global impact of the Russian Federation's war of aggression against the neighboring country. The NATO Deputy Secretary General for Defence Policy and Planning, Angus Lapsley, the UN Deputy Secretary General for Peacekeeping Operations, Jean-Pierre Lacroix, as well as the Ukrainian Defence Minister, Oleksii Reznikov, were also invited to participate in this session. The activity will end with a session dedicated to the current affairs, during which, current elements of the EU's security and defence agenda will be addressed, from an operational perspective.

At the same time, as part of the event, the Minister of National Defence will participate in the second meeting of the Steering Committee of the EU Satellite Center (EU SatCen) in the defence ministers format, at the SatCen Headquarters, in Torrejon.

As part of the Informal Meeting of the EU Defence Ministers, Minister Angel Tilvar will sign, together with his counterpart from the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the representative of Lockheed Martin, the letter of intent regarding the establishment of the F-16 Training Center in Romania.

Also, the Romanian Minister of Defence will have a meeting with his Spanish counterpart, during which the officials will approach the priorities of the Spanish Presidency of the EU Council, Common Security and Defence Policy missions conducted in Africa, the security situation on NATO's eastern flank and in the Black Sea region, as well as issues regarding bilateral cooperation.
