Eurofighter Typhoon Aircraft, at Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base


A detachment of the German Air Force consisting of 140 soldiers (pilots and technical staff) and four Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft will conduct NATO-led enhanced Air Policing Missions, alongside the Romanian Air Force's soldiers, at the 57th Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base.

The goal of the joint training missions is to increase interoperability among NATO allies, while the Air Policing Missions conducted jointly contribute to the enhancement of the reaction and deterrence capability.

The last deployment of the German Air Force took place at the beginning of year 2022, when they conducted Air Policing Missions alongside the Italian Air Force, in accordance with the Common Declaration on the Eurofighter Typhoon Interoperability.
