The Turkish Air Force Detachment ends its mission in Romania


The ceremony marking the closure of the mission of the Turkish Air Force Detachment which conducted NATO-led enhanced Air Policing Missions will take place on Wednesday, March 27, at 86th Locotenent Aviator Gheorghe Mociornita Air Base, Borcea.

The activity will be attended by the Deputy Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Dragos Dumitru Iacob, the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Bucharest, Ozgur Kıvanc Altan, the Turkish Air Force Deputy Chief of Operations, Major General Kemal Turan and the Deputy Chief of the Romanian Air Force Staff, Major General Leonard-Gabriel Baraboi.

During the ceremony, the Deputy Chief of Defence Staff and the Deputy Chief of the Air Force Staff will award Emblems of Honor to several members of the Turkish detachment, as a token of appreciation for their activity throughout the mission execution.

The mass-media representatives interested in attending the activity are requested to send their identification data (name, surname, series and number of the identity card, the media institution they represent and their phone number) by Monday, March 25, 18.00, to email address relpub.um01912@roaf.ro.

The accredited journalists will be expected on Wednesday, March 27, between 10.00 and 10.30 at the airbase headquarters on Blocuri Baraganu Street, Borcea, Calarasi County (access road from DN 3A).

The Turkish Air Force Detachment made up of four F-16 aircraft and approximately 80 soldiers had been conducting, since December 2023, NATO-led enhanced Air Policing Missions alongside the Romanian Air Force soldiers and aircraft.
